What do your thoughts look like throughout the day?
I don't know about you, but sometimes mine look at little like this.
I don't know about you, but I certainly have a tendency to think about myself an awful lot. What will this person think of me? What does this mean for my future? How do I look? How is this making me feel? A little self-reflection certainly isn't a bad thing, but let's take a look at how Christ viewed his relationships with others:
In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:
Who, being in very nature God,
did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;
rather, he made himself nothing
by taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
by becoming obedient to death—
even death on a cross!
Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father. ~ Philippians 2:5-11
Instead of thinking he was hot stuff, Jesus humbled himself before others.
Instead of thinking of his own needs, Jesus thought of the the needs of others.
Instead of thinking about how to make himself look God, He thought about how to glorify God.
Instead of thinking about how to get what he wanted, Christ thought about how to obey the Lord.
My challenge for us today is to take a break from self-thinking: Instead of focusing on our own desires and needs, try putting those aside and focusing on how what you're doing is bringing glory to God. Bit by bit, hopefully we can tackle our self-thinking and change it into god-thinking.
