Godly Woman Part 1: A Trustworthy Do-Gooder

I have to confess - I really like Sandra Bullock movies (Miss Congeniality anyone?). One of the latest, The Proposal, is a definite fav. For those of you that haven't seen it, Sandra Bullock's character is a big time book executive that forces her assistant (Ryan Reynolds) to propose to her so that she can get a green card. Let's just say she's not exactly the epitome of a Provs 31 gal (you can't deny Ryan doesn't look completely terrified in the photo) - especially in what we're going to chat about today: trustworthiness and bringing others good!

An excellent wife who can find?
She is far more precious than jewels.

The heart of her husband trusts in her,
and he will have no lack of gain.

She does him good, and not harm,
all the days of her life.
~Proverbs 31:10-12 (ESV)

For me, the two big chunks that stick out from this passage are "the heart of her husband trusts in her" and "she does him good." While these characteristics specifically talk about a husband-wife relationship, trustworthiness and bringing others good are definitely characteristics that we can put into practice with basically everyone in our lives. I wanted to leave you all with a few thoughts and verses about each to think about throughout the day!

Trustworthiness: Borrowing a page from the lovely miss Rachel, I looked up the definition of trustworthy: "worthy of being trusted; honest, reliable, and dependable." I know I often don't relate keeping other's confidence and following through on my promises with growing in being a godly woman, but based on this passage, it's key that we work on this trait!

Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much. ~ Luke 16:10

Bringing Others Good: While this concept seems a lot vaguer to me, I think it is incredible eye-opening and humbling to ask myself if I am motivated daily by bringing others good (it's so much easier to focus on bringing ourselves good!). When I read this verse, my first thought is always of encouraging others - a great way to bring good into others' lives!

Therefore encourage one another and edify one another, just as you are doing.
~ 1 Thessalonians 5:11
