Psalm 19: 7-11

"The law of the LORD is perfect,
reviving the soul;
the testimony of the LORD is sure,
making wise the simple;
the precepts of the LORD are right,
rejoicing the heart;
the commandment of the LORD is pure,
enlightening the eyes;
the fear of the LORD is clean,
enduring forever;
the rules of the LORD are true,
and righteous altogether.
More to be desired are they than gold,
even much fine gold;
sweeter also than honey
and drippings of the honeycomb.
Moreover, by them is your servant warned;
in keeping them there is great reward."
(Psalm 19:7-11)

Today I am reminded of the perfection and peace that are ours when we abide in the law of the Lord. It does not exist to restrain or constrict, but rather to give us freedom and truly abundant joy. Christ, who fulfills the Law and brings the new covenant, came that we might live without fear: "I came that they may have life, and have it to the full" (John 10:10). I encourage you to join me in meditation on this Psalm, and what it really means for our lives.

  1. Love this, Rach, thanks! So often, it's easy to think that our relationship w/ God is all about "following rules," when really He sets us free!
