Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. - Ephesians 3:20-21
Today was an exceedingly and abundantly day. One of my favorite things that I learned from the lovely Miss Cally Robertson (who I believe learned this from her wonderful mother) is God's promise to do exceedingly and abundantly more than we could ever ask or imagine. Most days (especially when I'm not looking for it), this promise is a hard one to believe - a lot of times I just don't see the Lord going above and beyond my expectations. Then the Lord will open my eyes to something he's been working at in my life or reveal to me something that is just fabulous and wonderful. Such times renew my strength, and really remind me of the sweetness of being near the Lord. Even if we are not in such a time however, the Lord's promise still holds - He is still working in our lives to bring about things that are greater than our own hopes. Today, I pray that we remember that our Lord is a God that can and will do things in our life that defy our expectations, even if it doesn't seem like it now. I can't say it any better than this:
For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Ephesians 3:14-20
