I just loved Betsy’s post yesterday about finding our strength in God alone. It never ceases to amaze me that He cares for us so completely, from our very basic needs to the most complex of our human emotions and desires.
Yesterday was a hectic Monday. So many emotions whirring through my little brain, work to do, schedules to plan, calls to return, a doctor’s visit, cookies to bake, a trip to a friend’s house… the list goes on. But let’s face it--- when are our brains not on this hectic overload mode? Even on days when we have some restful time, we feel restless. There’s always more to do, people to call, friends to see, futures to plan. We lose sight of our Father’s radical love for us, a love that encompasses us, cares for us, and lives in us day in and day out.
Today, I’m reflecting on those qualities of His that He has promised us.Truths so quiet and simple that we often overlook them... I hope you’ll join me in remembering them today.

When we our sick, He is our Healer.
For she said within herself, “If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole.” But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, “Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole.” And the woman was made whole from that hour. –Matthew 9: 21-22 (KJV)
When we are anxious, He is our Comforter.
And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. –John 14: 15-17 (KJV)
When we are afraid, He is our Refuge.
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging. –Psalm 46: 1-3 (NIV)
When we are surrounded by the darkness of our world, He is Light.
This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. -1 John 1:5
And finally, though we face persecution, though we may despair, though we are lonely, though we find even ourselves guilty of hatred and sin,
God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. -1 John 4:16
Our Father is the very source of all that is good, and He is always with us. Let His name be lifted high!
