I’ve found lately that while I thank the Lord for His many blessings in my life, it’s rarer for me to actually focus on Him. I thank Him for my wonderful friends, family, work, opportunities, ability to do so much, etc. My post the other day was on praise, but in praising Him, I find myself thinking narrow-mindedly of just those things in my life that I can see and hear. As I was thinking about what to write this morning, this song by The Newsboys played twice, and its lyrics stopped me:
It is you
We adore
It is you
Praises are for
Only you
The heaven's declare
It is you
It is you
And Holy, holy is our God Almighty
And Holy, holy is his name alone
And Holy, holy is our God Almighty
And Holy, holy is his name alone
We adore
It is you
Praises are for
Only you
The heaven's declare
It is you
It is you
And Holy, holy is our God Almighty
And Holy, holy is his name alone
And Holy, holy is our God Almighty
And Holy, holy is his name alone
It is GOD whom we adore. It is not the gifts He lavishes upon us- the dream guy, the dream job, the awesome friends; instead, our praises are for HIM.
Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his wonderful acts. – 1 Chronicles 16:9
Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and joy in his dwelling place. Ascribe to the Lord, O families of nations, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength, ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name. Bring an offering and come before him; worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness. – 1 Chronicles 16:27-29
