Hark the Herald Angels Sing

So since I love Christmas music so much, I couldn’t resist chatting about another one of my favorite Christmas carols: Hark The Herald Angels Sing.

My favorite part about this song is all of the different names it uses to describe Jesus: King, Christ, everlasting Lord, incarnate Deity, Emmanuel (‘God with us’ in Hebrew), Prince of Peace, Son of Righteousness. I think this time of year is excellent to think about exactly who God is. Another great verse in Isaiah focuses on this:

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end.
He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom,
establishing and upholding it
with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever.
The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this. –Isaiah 9:2-7

To me, the images of God’s constant presence, guidance, power, love, and peace are particularly meaningful! My challenge today for everyone is to pick one (or a couple!) of these images of God and look out for how He lives up to these names in your life!
