Cost

For you were bought with a price.
~1 Corinthians 6:20

As we near the end of the season of Lent, I can't help but to be moved by the immeasurable cost of our sins. No matter how hard I try to completely fathom it, I don't think I can accurately get my head around the idea: That the Lord of the universe, compared to whom I am nothing, would humble himself to become as low as us. That all of the careless moments when I choose to think of myself first could cost so much. I really don't think there's even a way for me to portray our sins' weightiness in words.

So instead of trying, I'm going to leave you with two things:
1. Lent Mixtape: Courtesy of my small group leader Mr. Paul Burkhart (Thanks Paul!).
2. Some Advice: Pop that baby on and spent some time reflecting on what your sin is worth. I think in the Western church, we do this entirely too rarely. I know it's not the most warm and fuzzy time, but I still would encourage you to try. I find that the more real I am before the Lord and the more aware I become of my own weaknesses, the more I am aware of the Lord's glory. Which let me tell you, is about as warm and fuzzy as it gets.

In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:
Who, being in very nature God,
did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage
rather, he made himself nothing
by taking the very nature of a servant,
 being made in human likeness.
And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
by becoming obedient to death—
 even death on a cross!
~Philippians 2: 5-8
