"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
-Jeremiah 29:11
These words have been my anchor throughout my Christian walk. God has great plans for me, He's created an adventure for me, He will give me hope and a future. God's promises sustain me.
And yet, though I know these truths, time and time again I strike out on my own, suspicious of God's plan for me. Distrust in His goodness overwhelms my thoughts.
Does He really have great things planned for me? Things don't seem so great right now.
This job He's placed me in can't possibly be the best. What was He thinking?
I can definitely pick the perfect guy for me- God would probably match me with some Bible-thumping missionary or something so I'll just take my pick instead, thank you very much..
He can't possibly want me to do that with my life. I have all of these goals and ambitions!
How often do you entrust God with everything in your life, knowing that He alone is completely in control of all things? He is good. Do we believe that?
As LR favorite Oswald Chambers writes, "You don't know what you are going to do. The only thing you know is that God knows what He is doing." Our great ambitions, our worldly dreams--- they amount to nothing without God. We may turn our backs and throw ourselves into a passionate pursuit of success, of love, of satisfaction, only to come crawling back, bruised and beaten, to our Father who loves us. He alone knows the plans He has for your life, and you are the only one He wants to walk the path He has prepared for you. Trust Him in all things, for He is good.
