Radical Prayer

"Prayer does not fit us for the greater work; prayer is the greater work."
-Oswald Chambers-

How often do we think of prayer as the "greater work" as Chambers does?  I know that prayer is an amazing gift that allows us to speak directly to our Creator and gives us the chance to speak openly and freely about all things that plague our hearts and thoughts.  Yet so often I only resort to prayer when I want something or when I want God to prepare me for some job or task.  I treat prayer as a means to an end, rather than the end in itself.

What a challenge Chambers gives to each of us with that simple statement: "Prayer is the greater work."  If prayer is truly what we're striving for, that prayer should look absolutely radical.  That prayer should be  genuine, emotional, and unceasing.

1 Thessalonians:16-18 encourages us:
Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

I pray that each of you will experience a radical transformation of the role of prayer in your life and I challenge you to pray through whatever it is you're doing right this minute.  Remember, God loves the prayers of His people and wants us to draw near to Him!
